Synopsis
De Cierta Manera (1974) is half a documentary and half a narrative feature. It tells the story of a light-skinned Afrolatina teacher, Yolanda, who goes to work in the newly rehabilitated slums of Havana and meets and falls in love with Mario, a macho bus driver. Their story serves to show how the old inequalities of Cuba’s past conflict with the newfound ideas of the revolution.
Synopsis
Guantanamera (1995) tells the story of a former teacher and wife of a bureaucrat, Georgina, whose great aunt dies suddenly in Guantanamo. Her husband devises a scheme to have different cars move the body so each province pays equally. Along the way, Georgina keeps running into her former student Mariano and by the end decides to leave her controlling husband and start anew with Mariano.
Synopsis
Juan of the Dead (2011) starts when zombies take over Havana. The government claims that they are US dissidents, but Juan and his friends don’t buy it. Juan decides to capitalize on the moment and create a company that kills the loved ones of Havana residents. Near the end, their task seems impossible and he and his group try to escape but realize at the end that they have to stay and fight.

Cuenta la historia de una profesora afro-latina de piel clara, Yolanda, quien va a trabajar en los barrios marginales recién rehabilitados de La Habana y conoce y se enamora de Mario, un conductor de autobús machista. Sinopsis
Juan de los Muertos (2011) comienza cuando los zombis toman La Habana. El gobierno afirma que son disidentes estadounidenses, pero Juan y sus amigos no se lo creen. Juan decide aprovechar el momento y crear una empresa que mate a los seres queridos de los habaneros. Cerca del final, sus tareas parecen imposibles y él y su grupo intentan escapar, pero en el último momento se dan cuenta de que tienen que quedarse y luchar.
